FILM TESTED 1934 Balda Badax Vest Pocket' 6x4.5cm Folding Camera
For sale is a fascinating 120 medium format film camera that takes 6x4.5cm images. It is in remarkably good condition. While it has cosmetic wear commensurate with age, the leatherette is intact as in having no peeling or tears. It is worn on some spots and the metal has spots or patina which could be cleaned but, result in a loss in the value of the camera. It was a joy to photograph with this 80+-year-old camera.
The leather bellows are supple with no light leaks. The camera has its quirkiness as it comes from an era when pocket cameras for 6x4.5cm format were starting to come to market. For example, it has two red windows on the back to help you guide the forwarding of the film after taking each shot. The viewfinder on the top snaps open upon the press of a button as does the camera open rapidly with the press of a button! So cool! It is a focus scale camera meaning that you have to estimate the distance to your subject and set the dial to that along with the shutter speed (up to 1/250) and aperture and take your carefully composed photograph.
Exceptionally well-preserved camera with all the lettering and numbers on the lenses and the front intact. The photographs it takes have a true vintage feel to them - see samples attached.
